We could move outside the Lafayette Road area to other parts of the city that are more accessible to those for whom Lafayette Road is not convenient. Here are some alternatives:
In the short spurt of time that we meet (ok, not really that short, but still) we should be focusing on the inter-personal connections rather than the Electronic ones; I mean, we have this whole website and numerous others to connect electronically with each other!
Rather than spend half of the lunch booting up and troubleshooting connectivity issues, why not focus on what we got together for?
Yes, but are we really comparing apples to apples?
In a collie-club meeting, you are actively discussing collies, but in an ICG meeting, we are actively discussing ideas.
Given that in most cases we spend 1/4 of the entire meeting time getting everyone online to display maybe one or two web sites, perhaps we should look into just saying "hey, go check this site out when you have time" and reserve the time we have face-to-face for talking to each other.
Yes, WiFi is 'nice', but unless we are dedicating an entire meeting to just looking at a website I don't think it's "necessary"
Isn't the main issue that people can come to the meeting and get food they enjoy and socialize, rather than hunkering down in front of an LCD?
We don't need WiFi unless we need to look up some information or to show something that comes up in the discussion. For that, your EVDO tether should be sufficient.
